Play Based Learning All Ages

We believe play initiated by the child lays the foundation for learning and academic success. Play boosts healthy development in all critical areas of life. While playing our children are learning how to interact with others, develop their language skills, recognize and solve problems and discover their own potential.

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is the award-winning, research-based curriculum that WPA uses for our Pre-K program. The Creative Curriculum for Preschool features exploration and discovery as a means for learning thus enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills.

Enrichment Programs

The Wilmington Preschool of the Arts enrichment programs include Music & Movement, Art, Spanish, Dance, Soccer, and Stretch-n-Grow®. Each of these classes play a large role in the overall development of a young mind and active body. We strive to inspire a child through exposure in which the simplest of activities can make a child feel whole and nurtured.

2 1/2 to 5 Year Olds

This childhood physical education, nutrition, and wellness program improves the level of fitness in our stars and teaches them the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the perils of inactivity. Offered for ages 2 1/2 to 5 years old, this program develops good health and fitness habits in a fun and EXERciting way!

Music & Movement

WPA's Music & Movement is a collaboration of songs, finger plays, and rhythmic instruments to inspire our children to get up and move. We have taken a wealth of information and put it together to give our children the best of what music has to offer.

The children are exposed to several props such as parachutes, drums, maracas, bells, rhythm sticks, scarves, etc. to enrich their Music & Movement activities.

Art and Creative Dance

Art is an integral part of every WPA classroom. Art experiences in our classrooms contribute to creative development as well as to a wide range of skills in other areas including perceptual, cognitive, language and social skills.

Our dance/creative movement class is designed to introduce children to the idea of expressing themselves through movement.  Fun activities, such as stretches, yoga, beginning ballet, free dance and beginning tumbling,  help them develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.

Lil' Hammers Soccer

The Little Hammerheads program is an outside program that comes to our school once a week to offer early soccer skills onsite to those who want to participate.  Lauren from the Hammerheads office brings balls and small goals and transforms half of the playground into a mini soccer field for an hour of fun soccer drills and scrimmages.

Spanish is offered twice a week as a morning and afternoon enrichment program. Mallory Beckett teaches through songs and activities at the children's level.
